Lodging with group rates:
Days Inn
Discounted rates $74 Fri/Sat, $49 Sun/Mon/Tue. Reserve by May 11 under name "Brad Hall". The hotel is northeast of campus, on the side of I-35. You would also need to cross the highway to get to campus, so a car might be recommended, if you stay here.

AT&T Conference Center
Group Rate of $169 under the name of 'SynBioCon'. This is on the Southwest edge of campus, and only several blocks from the Ellington Lab. For those who have asked, this and the Days Inn are the same distance from the Crown, but this is on the same side of the highway.

Extended Stay America
Group Rate of $83 per night under the name of 'SynBioCon'. Right in the heart of downtown (though not crazy or bar-y part), this might be a good option for those with families, as rooms include small kitchens and more live-in amenities. About a mile and a half from the Lab, so one could walk, drive or bus.

La Quinta Inn
$189/night, no block rate - Just a couple blocks East of the Capitol, the La Quinta is about a mile from lab and several blocks North of the heart of downtown. The Capitol is also a hub for most of the buses.

$$ - About a mile Southwest of the Lab, the Doubletree is also relatively easy access to downtown. The rooms have suites, so you could cook in your room.

Lodging Downtown/Near Lake
There are a number of different hotels near Town Lake, just on the South edge of downtown. These are all walking distance to Town Lake, the bats, City Hall, downtown, etc.. Transit to the UT campus would likely be by car or any of the several buses throughout downtown. Hotels include:

The Austin Motel
What Ichiro calls the "superfinger motel", this has been an iconic place in Austin since the 1940's. It is located in the heart of the SoCo area.
